President’s Message – July 2022

Hello CCSHRM Members and Happy July!

No doubt you are all realizing that this summer won’t be a relaxing one what with all the goings-on in the world right now.  Here we all wished for some “vacation” time and unfortunately won’t get it, between Roe v. Wade, mass shootings and other major news stories from across the country.

All we can do is take one day at a time, try to catch our breath once in a while, and find people we can partner with to vent and share frustrations.  Why not come do that at one of our CCSHRM luncheons?  It’s a perfect place to meet new people, find others you have commonalities with, and feel good that you’re not the only one feeling the way you feel.

Our July presenter will be focused on Active Shooter training, something that all employers should have a policy for.  Our August presenter will be talking about “stay interviews” and why we should focus on the people that want to be at work instead of always worrying about the ones who don’t.  In addition, we’ve added a special evening event with local employment Attorney Ashley Emerzian.  This event will take place on Thursday, August 4th from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Pardini’s, with dinner included.  Ashley will be covering two somewhat related topics: trauma-informed HR approaches, and complex disability accommodations.  The two-hour evening format will allow more time to cover these important topics, and ensure any questions you might have can be answered.

We will also be looking to partner with Beautify Fresno after their visit to our luncheon last month.  We will likely be sponsoring a team during the Mayor’s City-Wide Cleanup Day on Saturday, August 6th from 8a-10am.  More details will be forthcoming.
So come on out and join us at some, or all, of these summer events – we would love to have you!
