Our Mission: Enriching Lives Through Transformative Action

PROGRAM & POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Financial Planning Intern at Portfolio Advisors, Inc. is an entry level team member who will be participating in an extensive educational program to learn about a career in financial planning. They will apply what they learn and begin working directly with our Advisory and Client Service Teams.
The first 8 weeks of the internship will be spent participating in The Externship – a virtual program (hosted by Amplified Planning) to allow the intern to see financial planning in action. The program will cover all areas of financial planning including investments, retirement planning, insurance planning, estate planning, and tax planning. You will meet over 50 experts across the country to see how they do financial planning as well as sit in real client meetings. Additionally, you will have access to various planning technologies to gain additional experience.

The Externship will be accompanied by the Investing Summer Series (hosted by Dimensional Fund Advisors) to give the intern exposure to evidence-based investment training. This additional educational program will provide exposure to our firm’s investment philosophy, how to answer tough client questions about the markets, and portfolio analysis.

During the completion of the above-mentioned education programs, the intern will be working on various firm projects related to financial planning. They will learn about the financial planning development process and how this integrates with the Advisory Team and ultimately our clients.
They will also learn about how to best support clients through the Client Services Team as they work in conjunction with our advisors to ensure all commitments are complete and followed through in a timely manner. They also may be asked to provide back office and administrative support as needed.
***It is important to note that this internship could lead to a full-time position with the firm.
