Are you a high-achiever that’s tired of big-company bureaucracy and looking for more responsibility and the ability to make an impact? SINBAD FOODS, LLC is seeking an experienced Human Resource Manager to lead all HR functions and programs for our private equity backed Mediterranean food company.

Based in Madera, CA (near Fresno), Sinbad Foods is North America’s leading producer of baklava and a large producer of fillo dough, other fillo based pastries and frozen fillo appetizers and entrees. Reporting to the CEO, our HR Manager will be a smart, detail-oriented professional who wants to make a positive impact and lead Sinbad Foods’ employee relations, recruiting, salary administration, compliance and training as well as being an integral member of the Management Team.

Essential Duties:

Manage time & attendance and HR-facing payroll procedures to ensure employees are paid in accordance with company policy and legal requirements
Manage workers’ compensation program including payroll
Ensure legal compliance with applicable laws and regulations including leave of absence management and reasonable accommodations
Actively source, recruit, screen, interview, select, hire and orient new employees for job openings, including core business functions and seasonal employees
Investigate claims of legal, ethical or policy violations
Lead performance evaluation and compensation programs in partnership with plant leadership.
Provide guidance and coaching to plant leadership in employee relations and compliance matters
Coordinate disciplinary action process
Administer benefit activities including: annual open enrollment, FSA, COBRA, new employee, etc.
Manage company direct to employee communication to promote employee understanding of programs, policies, and company objectives
Conduct or coordinate all HR-related trainings
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, HR or related field from an accredited four-year college or university; PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
5+ years of experience with broad HR knowledge including payroll systems
Ability to work cross functionally and with a diverse employee base
Experience in seasonal recruiting
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
