The City of Modesto (population over 200,000) is conducting a national search for an experienced, service-oriented, and innovative human resources generalist with a strong risk management and process improvement background to serve as the City’s next Director of Human Resources. The Director of Human Resources is an at-will position that works under the general direction of the City Manager and/or Deputy City Manager to plan, organize, direct, and review the activities and operations of the Human Resources Department (19 employees and an operating budget of almost $1.7 million) including, to serve as the City’s Chief Negotiator in contract negotiations.
This position requires the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of increasingly responsible experience in professional human resources work including 3 years of administrative and management responsibility. The City of Modesto is offering a competitive compensation package. Offered salary will be dependent on the selected candidate’s qualifications and education (DOE).
