Hazardous Material Disposal Manager (Warehouse)

We are currently looking for a Warehouse Hazardous Material Supervisor to join our team in Fresno, Ca.

Under general guidance of the Director of Distribution, performs a wide range of moderate to difficult activities. Coordinates, directs and maintains the regulatory compliance programs for Distribution and field locations as needed. Makes recommendations and assists in the formulation of company objectives, policies, and plans as they relate to the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Leads the ongoing development and maintenance of regulatory compliance programs
Lead the effort to conduct regulatory compliance audits to verify facility compliance with policies, procedures and governmental regulations, assists in formulating and implementing preventative and corrective actions.
Maintains a thorough familiarity with Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to the chemical distribution industry. Works with facilities to educate employees on regulatory compliance subjects.
Identifies and resolves regulatory compliance issues, Identifies and assists in root cause analysis and the formulation and implementation of corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.
Audits Sally Beauty Holdings facilities, supplier facilities (e.g.: Hazardous Waste Facilities, Drum Recondition, etc.) to detect existing or potential regulatory compliance concerns as well as accident and health hazards that may be detrimental to the Company. Recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and assists in the implementation of corrective actions.
Assists in the training of managers and other employees on new regulations, and other required training.
Participates in the investigation of incidents and accidents and cooperates in the preparation of materials and evidence for company’s use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
Leads and, or assists in the compilation and submission of reports, surveys and audits required by regulatory agencies, vendors and customers.
Devises, supervises, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in regulatory compliance.
Leads the effort to standardize and maintain regulatory compliance files and records to facilitate compliance and streamline retrieval when required.
Maintains a thorough working knowledge of both proposed and current legislative and regulatory programs that affect the chemical distribution industry.
Assesses current and proposed facilities, processes &, products for regulatory compliance.
Promotes compliance with Sally Beauty Holdings regulatory compliance programs.

Possess a thorough understanding of the chemical distribution process and legal compliance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must.
Ability to interface with all levels of management and personnel in a professional manner. This includes outside customers, all levels of regulatory authorities, agency enforcement/inspectors, and auditors.
Possess thorough working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Occasional to moderate travel may be required.
Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, and a minimum of 5 years work experience in the area of regulatory compliance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Relevant knowledge and training may have included HAZWOPER, 29 CRF, 8CCR, IATA Dangerous Goods, hazardous waste management, OSHA, and environmental health and safety compliance.
